Biltmore Video

Big thanks to everyone who came out to the Biltmore on Friday night! We had an amazing time and raised a whole thwack of cash for the Overdose Prevention Society (full total TBA). In the meantime, check out a clip from the show!

BIG JA CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENT

CONCERT ANNOUNCEMENT

I'll be playing with the full band live at The Biltmore Cabaret with the amazing Skyote on Friday, March 24th.

Proceeds from this show will go to support the fight against the opioid overdose crisis affecting our friends, family and neighbours across Metro Vancouver. Too many people have died from what is a real and deadly epidemic. The new numbers will be out next week and the year will almost certainly end with more than 800 people having died. That number is staggering and more needs to be done. This will be our small way of trying to help out. So, let's try to address this mega-serious issue by having a bit of fun, a few beers and some rock 'n roll. Come on out and support a good and pressing cause!

New JA Christmas song!

My new Christmas song 'Bring Those Presents To Me' is now available for download (name your price)! I wrote this puppy as the Christmas spirit was starting to set in, just last week. Decided to do just get in the studio and put it out. Pretty happy with the thick holiday vibes.

JA meets Pussy Riot legend Masha Alyokhina!

I had the massive pleasure and good fortune of meeting Masha Alyokhina from Pussy Riot. She and the rest of her band are an inspiration when it comes to delivering messages of political resistance against authoritarian rule through music and for risking everything in order to do so. (She went to jail for nearly two years for the band's performance in the Russian Orthodox church in Moscow).

As I was walking her out, I asked her if she had seen what Green Day did at the American Music Awards the night before ("No Trump, No KKK, No Fascist USA"). Because she had arrived in Vancouver late that night, she hadn't seen it. I described what happened, and her face lit up. She looked genuinely pleased. Then, hilariously and stupidly, I said "...it was pretty gutsy.". I immediately realized who I was talking to, and quickly added, "...but I guess that's nothing compared to playing in a church in Moscow." Thankfully, she laughed and told me that any form of political message in music is really important and powerful. Masha, thank you for your work, your sacrifice and for your graciousness. It was an honour to meet you!

JA LIVE at Persephone Brewing Co. on the Sunshine Coast

Josh and I had an awesome time playing the Persephone Brewing Company on the Sunshine Coast this past Sunday. It was raining like crazy, but the place was packed with beer drinkers of all ages as well as a bunch of awesome kids. Really outstanding crowd...standing room only for pretty much the entire set. Thanks to my buddy Angie who came out despite being 38 weeks pregnant and to everyone who took it in. We neglected to get a live shot, but here are a couple from the trip. Note to selves: reserve ferry spots on the Sunday of a long weekend. We waited 5.5 hours to get on the boat! All in good fun though.

Slickity Jim's LIVE featuring JDKK

Josh and I had an outstanding show down at Slickity Jim's. Love the speakeasy feel of the back room. It only holds about 30-35, but we packed 40+ in there. Thanks so much to everyone for cramming in and listening so intently. We hear there isn't going to be live music at Slickity's much longer, which is a cryin' shame because it's a great room. Bittersweet to be one of the last few to play it.
